What is the difference between stamping and forging?

Forging is a combination of forging and stamping, and is a forming method for forming a part of a desired shape and size by using a hammer head, an anvil, a punch or a punching force of a forging machine to apply pressure to a blank to cause plastic deformation.

In the forging process, the billet has obvious plastic deformation and a large amount of plastic flow. In the stamping process, the billet is mainly formed by changing the spatial position of each part, and there is no plastic flow of a large distance inside.

Forging is mainly used for processing metal parts, and can also be used to process certain non-metals, such as engineering plastics, rubber, ceramic billets, bricks and composites.

Forging and metallurgy in the rolling, drawing and so on are all plastic processing, or pressure processing, but forging is mainly used to produce metal parts, while rolling, drawing, etc. are mainly used to produce sheets, strips, pipes, General purpose metal materials such as profiles and wires.

Forging is a combination of forging and stamping, like industrial and trade, also known as industry and trade.

Stamping processing is the production technology of product parts with certain shape, size and performance by means of the power of conventional or special stamping equipment, which directly deforms and deforms the sheet in the mold. Sheets, molds and equipment are the three elements of stamping.

According to the stamping processing temperature, it is divided into hot stamping and cold stamping. The former is suitable for sheet processing with high deformation resistance and poor plasticity; the latter is carried out at room temperature, which is a common stamping method for thin sheets. It is one of the main methods of metal plastic processing (or pressure processing) and is also part of material forming engineering technology.
